Report #1 from the NaNoWriMo 2016 Trenches
Well, it’s day 10 of NaNoWriMo 2016 and I’ve taken some time away from the U.S Presidential distractions to distract myself by producing this report from the NaNoWriMo trenches.
It’s day 10 of the challenge. Tune into to find out what I’ve learned about being in the zone, pantsing vs plotting and the tools that are making my journey easier. That and much more besides.
I’m 13,000 words in and discovering all sorts of things about myself, my characters and how to stay focused and motivated.
Are you in for NaNoWrimo 2016? Or are you struggling to write that novel that’s burning inside you. Listen and discover how I’m dealing with NaNoWriMo 10 days in.
Check my recent blog post on this very topic over at Madhouse Media Publishing. Here’s an excerpt.
We’ll it’s upon us again. The annual festival of over caffeinated writing which is National Novel Writing month, or NaNoWriMo 2016.
This year I’m participating. I’ve also decided to blog and podcast about the experience. I’m hoping to learn something through the month that you might get some value out of.
So why have I taken up this challenge?
Simple. To challenge myself. I’ve been writing ABOUT writing and the business of self publishing for years. I wanted to polish my story chops and tackle a novel. I have been working on a novel for the past couple of years, but like many people have struggled to find the time and dedication to complete it. In a word, I got disheartened that I’d ever get it finished. Every time I returned to the project, I just couldn’t find that mojo to dive in and continue.
